Obituary

To all those who knew her and loved her:
Mom passed peacefully in her sleep (one of her favorite things to do). I urge you to share stories here of your adventures with my mom.
I remember mom getting up 10 min before she had to leave, seeing her whirlwind through the house and arrive at the subway station and work, just in time, looking great.
I remember touring the Comcast control center and the Intelsat offices, and seeing the models of the satellites that she was a part of-putting into orbit.
I remember the cultures I was exposed to through her work with Comsat and Intelsat.
I remember my mom being a great shot when shooting skeet.
I remember going with Mom and Dad to the bowling alley for their club league games.
Our Trip to Hawaii she won as a Home Interior Decorator.
And my charm bracelet forever it holds a silver charm from everywhere we went together and she travelled afar.
And that was the early days….
After raising little Shih Tzu’s her true love came in the form of an English Springer Spaniel. The first was Talisman (her then spouse’s dog). Her dog world took off and away she went with many accomplishments to include:

Having the first “ever” Show Champion English springer spaniel to earn the title of Senior Hunter AND be awarded “triple titleholder” as well as having accomplished his AKC Championship, obedience CDX and Senior Hunter – all in one year, something she was very proud of.
She had another who placed FIRST – winning at the National English springer spaniel Field Trial Championship in Texas
She worked for many years at Waggin’ Tails Junction in Manassas, VA, with her long time friend Julie Hogan and Donna (name) who were at the beginning of her English Springer adventure as Pride & Joy Kennels.
She owned her own business – Woodland Kennels – in Mendocino, California. She was an excellent trainer and had many dogs with high-ranking titles. She traveled with her dogs all over the country and abroad. She even met the Queen of England.
She published two magazines “Spaniels in the Field” and “Springer Express.” Some issues reside in the National Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, TN along with a sculpture on the front lawn of her English Springer Spaniel.
She also fell in love with Labradors at Silverbrook Kennel where Mom was able to whelp lab puppies for a living. We had three litters at once and THAT was a puppy pile.
She last lived in the Zellwood community, near Apopka, Florida where many friends will miss her at Monday and Wednesday bowling and Wednesday burger night.
I’m sure I’ve missed some of her other amazing accomplishments and great stories. Again, I encourage you to tell them here.
She wanted no services and no viewing but please know that I appreciate all that Zellwood and its residents have done for my Mom, myself and Gary over the past years.

Last but not least
My Mom was pre-deceased by her parents Herman Lee Stinson & Anna Rae Hurst
And Survived by:
Me (her daughter) Lori (Carolyn) Williams
My Children: Brian J A. LaAsmar, Steven E A. LaAsmar, Chayton L.A. Williams, Aiyanna B.M. Williams
My Dad: Julius L Stommel (Larry)
Several Great Grandchildren
Several cousins, other extended family and friends too numerous to mention but most notably: Gary Langley (who was with her at the time of her death), Debbie Fowler (whose help was invaluable) and my godmother Carolyn Jones

I was so very sad to hear of Sandy’s passing. She was a member of our Monday and Wednesday Senior bowling leagues and a dear and treasured friend. She loved bowling and was always so friendly and caring, and of course so well dressed. I miss her so much and will always remember her. Rest in peace lovely lady. Carole Caliendo

There was a great group of friends from the Springer world — Sandy, Karen, me, Alice, David and Marie, and Harry. Oh, the good times we had, and how dearly we miss those who are gone. Good journey, Sandy.
