Obituary

Scott S. Whitaker, 79, of The Villages, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019.  Born in Bryn Mawr, PA to Edgar and Anna Whitaker of Collingswood, NJ, he resided in Allentown, PA and Valparaiso, IN before moving to The Villages in 2012. 

Life in The Villages included shuffleboard, golf, and woodworking, but his favorite things were

Fox News, Duke basketball, scotch, his children and grandchildren, and grocery shopping (he was at times known to have a 2-3 times a day habit).

Scott graduated from Drexel Institute of Technology and NC State.  He taught at Drexel for three years before taking a position with Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a Marketing Engineer in Construction Sales, where he worked for thirty-five years.

He is survived by Alma, his wife of 49 years; his daughter, Laura Kay Stiner and husband Steve; his son, Ryan Scott Whitaker and wife Kym; three grandchildren, Gage Whitaker, Garrett Whitaker, Delilah Stiner; his sister, Elizabeth Worrell and husband Henry.  He is preceded in death by his sister Ann Zepke and his parents.

    Scott was such a fun guy and always so kind to us. We love you both and now so glad we took that last cruise together.. we love you and will miss Scott but have many good memories. We will stay in touch and see you soon.

    Scott was a true gentleman, he helped me and many of my friends and colleagues understand the intricacies of sheet piling, and its uses. Scott was a great mentor. He was patient and kind. We will all miss him very much.

    I am so sorry to read of Scott’s passing. That is such a shock to hear.




    I have so many wonderful memories of Scott from Collingswood High School which I shall cherish forever.




    I will always have the wonderful visit to your home and meeting you as a most valuable memory.
