Obituary
Shawn Coleen Morgan, 67, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024, surrounded by her children after a long battle with cancer.
Shawn was married to Rodney Allen Morgan for many years, and they remained lifelong friends. She had three children with him that were her pride and joy and the center of her universe. Shawn was an amazing Mother who always put her children first and was the heart of our family. She taught her children to be loving, independent, respectful, thoughtful adults and to always show up and stand up for the people we love. She was the definition of strength and compassion and a true Legend. Shawn was loved by many, she will leave behind a legacy of kindness, unconditional love, selflessness, and strength. “Put your Big Girl Panties on and Deal with it” were her words to live by. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind. She was a beacon of light to all she met; her essence lit up the room the minute she walked in. She will be profoundly missed by all that knew her, but her spirit will guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her. Shawn’s life was a testament to the beauty of life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love that she shared.
Shawn was born in Huntington, Indiana on March 13, 1957, to Gladys “Jody” Marie Walters (Peak) and Thomas Floyd Walters and resided in Indiana until the age of 15. Her family then relocated to Daytona Beach, Florida and she lived most of her life in Ormond Beach, Florida.
Shawn graduated from Seabreeze High School in 1975. Shawn’s life was dedicated to her children, her grandchildren, great granddaughter, her nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She was the Billing Manager for Parks Dermatology for over 20 years and was the best in the business.
Surviving are her Daughters; Amber Leah Maizel (Jeffrey), Danielle Coleen Morgan (James); her Son, Tyler James Morgan; her Nieces, Shannon Cunniff (Thomas), Charlie Harris (Seth) and Brooke Slagle (Noah); her Nephews, Thomas Walters (Brittany), Mason Padgett (Brianna), Mark Johnson (Erin), Wyatt Morgan, David Drake (Theresa), Robert “Butchie” Drake; her grandchildren, (7) Monica Shay (Damon), Emma Leah, Hanna Marie, Hunter Morgan, Evan Leo, Maya Noell, Gavin James, her Great Nieces, Madisyn, Piper, Lyra, Sydney, Callie, Lily, Heidi, Harmony, Benji, Ashlyn and Morgan; her Great Nephews, Ryker, Charlie, Easton, Lincoln, Logan and Levi; her Great Granddaughter, Ruby Melina; Sister-in-laws; Kelly Padgett (Chuck) Shawn’s little sister in her eyes, Debra Strickland (Russell) and Donna Walters; Brother-in-law, John Leslie Morgan and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was Grandma Shawn to all of her Grandchildren, Great Granddaughter, Great Nieces and Nephews. To Emma in her early years, she was her Ba Shawn, her favorite grandma name.
Shawn was preceded in death by her Mother, Gladys “Jody” Marie Walters (Peak) d. 2024; her Father, Thomas F. Walters d. 2013; her Brothers, James F. Walters d. 2007 and Scott T. Walters d. 2023; and her Sister, Shannon M. Walters d. 1964.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11am, with Visitation starting at 10am, Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at Baldwin Brothers Ormond Beach Chapel, 1185 W. Granada Blvd. #11, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you pass on her legacy by making donations to an animal rescue/foundation and/or the American Cancer Society.
