Obituary
Shirley A. Rininger, 84 of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on November 3, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born on November 11, 1935 in Alliance, Ohio to Ernest and Irene (Briggs) Meeks. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Alliance High School and received her RN nursing degree from Aultman School of Nursing. She was employed at Alliance Community Hospital for 41 years working both as a nurse and later in management. Shirley had a passion for caring for people and put their needs above her own. She was a life long member of Christ United Methodist Church in Alliance. Shirley was very active in her community in Fort Myers serving on the Board of Thunderbird Women’s Club for many years.
She is survived by her companion David Abney and three children Charles (Connie) Rininger of Doylestown, PA, Susan (Donnie) Foster of Uniontown, OH, and Lynn (Wayne) Weita of Hilliard, OH. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan (Cyndi) Foster, Charlie (Erin) Rininger, Scott Foster, Nathan Weita, Jillian Weita, 3 great grandchildren, her sister Nancy Vicars, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Joyce Anderson.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Christ United Methodist Church at 11:00. The family will be observing COVID-19 restrictions including masks, social distancing and any requirements by the church.
