Shirley Almeida, age 88, went to heaven on April 26th, 2022. She passed away peacefully under the care of Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte. Shirley was from Taunton Mass and moved to Florida in 2005. She is survived by her 4 daughters, Debbie Furtado, Joanne Desjardins, and her husband Ray, Cheryl Furtado and Shirley Freitas, and her husband Antonio, and preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth. Shirley is also survived by her brother Richard Silvia and his wife Linda, of East Taunton, half-brother Lloyd Silvia of East Bridgewater, Mass. Shirley loved her grandchildren: Anthony Freitas and wife Jeni, Adam Freitas and wife Kelly, Matthew Desjardins, Michelle Francisco and husband Paul and Samantha Freitas: 3 great-grandchildren: Brayden Freitas, Allie Freitas, Chelsey Freitas, with another on the way.

Shirley retired from Morton Hospital in Taunton, in the X-Ray Department. She was a parishioner at San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port; loved Dunkin Donuts and playing cards. Shirley was a member of the Portuguese American Civic Club in Taunton, and Morton Hospital Retirees. She loved Cape Cod, and being with her family.

    I will miss your energy to always want to go on a trip. I will cherish all our family vacations, especially the ones to Tennessee. Thank you for all the great memories. Your pea soap was the best.
