Obituary
Shirley Ann “Maude” Kight, nee Weaver, 89 of Lehigh Acres, FL passed peacefully on Monday April 9, 2018. She was born July 20, 1928 in Georgetown, IL to Ralph and Vera Weaver.
Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Georgetown High School and spent several years working for Doctor Henderson in Georgetown. Later she worked for the University of Illinois as an extra help stage hand and spotlight operator at the Assembly Hall and Krannert Center for the Performing Arts as well as seasonal help in the Illini Union Bookstore. She was a volunteer with the PTA Council, Champaign County Crime Prevention Council, and the Cancer Society’s Reach to Recovery program. She enjoyed volunteering at hospital auxillaries. Shirley was a life member of the Hope Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was married to Robert Eugene “Bob” Kight of Attica, IN on September 5, 1953. They resided in Georgetown, later Savoy, IL until 1987 then moving to Labelle, FL.
Survivors include her son Ralph Scott (Helen) Kight of Lehigh Acres, FL, her brother Phillip Ray Weaver of Catlin, IL, nieces Melinda (Rick) Long and Malia (Joe) Pelszynski, both of Catlin, IL, and nephew Doug (Jan) Weaver of Cape Coral, FL, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister-in-law Patricia Weaver.
Her remains will be interred at the National Cemetery in Danville, IL along with those of her husband Bob on June 15, 2018 at 1pm.
