Shirley Rose Roberts, 79 passed away after a brief illness on September 1, 2009 while vacationing in Cape Cod with family. When not enjoying her home summer home in Harrison, Maine with her husband, Norman, Mrs. Roberts lived in Edgewater, Florida.
Always concerned for others, she was a retired Registered Nurse and a former Nursing Director for the Volusia County Health Department. She was active with her church, family and friends. Her compassion in life was obvious in everything she did and she will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband, Norman, her sister, Nira Snider of Palm Bay, three children – Jerry Hood of Medford, Oregon, Barbara Duffy of DeLand, Florida and Jim Hood of Cincinnati, Ohio, three grandchildren – Chris Duffy, Alex Hood and Mindy Hood, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and a nephew .
A scholarship has been established for Shirley Roberts to benefit students in a new Bachelor of Nursing Program at Daytona State College. To further her service to others, the family requests consideration of a donation to the: Foundation at Daytona State College, 1200 West International Speedway Boulevard, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 5:30 pm, Friday, September 11th at Baldwin Brothers Memorial Chapel 1 North Causeway in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. (map/driving directions)
