Obituary
Skaidrite “Skai” Bogart, 90, of Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023.
Skai was born on March 20, 1933, to Robert and Emilie Ozols in Riga, Latvia. While in her teenage years, Skai’s family, including her parents and younger sister, Ausma, all had to leave their home due to the war and Russian occupation in Latvia. With great determination, love, and support, the Ozols family immigrated to the U.S, eventually residing in Kalamazoo, MI.
In 1961, she met Homer Bogart, and they wed in 1962, with a family of 4 children from their prior marriages, Imants, Gary, Bonnie, and David. Skai dedicated her life to being a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, Skai was passionate about gardening, entertaining, and travel. We will miss her greatly. Skai was predeceased by Homer Bogart, Robert Ozols, and Emilie Ozols. She is survived by Ausma Mursch (sister), Rev. Robert Mursch (brother-in-law), Imants Mark Bogart (son), Lorrie Bogart (daughter-in-law), Lauren Bogart (granddaughter), Stefanie Nelson (niece), Andrew Mursch (nephew), Gary, Bonnie, and David Bogart, and their children.
There will be a celebration of life at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at St. Armands Key Lutheran Church.
