Obituary

Stanley Alan “Stan” deSzameit, of Port Orange, FL went to be with his Lord on November 19, 2018 at the age of 85, after a short battle with cancer. Born on November 13, 1933 in Oak Park, IL, Stan was a Naval Corpsman at Great Lakes Naval Base in North Chicago, IL and Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville, NC. After leaving the service, he had a long and distinguished career in the field of electronics. He served in sales and sales management for Shure Brothers, Superscope, Atari, and was a founding officer of GridComm, Inc. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Stan enjoyed living in the Chicagoland area for many years. The family moved to Ridgefield, CT in 1985 and moved back to Elburn, IL in 1988. But the house they retired to at Spruce Creek Fly-In in 2000 was his favorite; after many years of vacationing in Florida, he finally got to really enjoy living the Florida life. Stan loved the Cubs, Blackhawks and Da Bears. He had a passion for his wife’s cooking, his church, and all things Frank Sinatra. He was a hi-fi enthusiast, and enjoyed reading, history, and crossword puzzles. He also loved singing for many years with the Spruce Creek Country Club Christmas Program.

Stan is survived by his loving wife, Nancy deSzameit (née Zajic.) They met in 1955, married in 1957, and just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in September of this year. He is also survived by his daughters Cynthia MacIntosh (Jim) of St. Charles, IL and Jenifer Daniel (Clay) of Tampa, FL.

Services will be held on January 11, 2019 at 8:30am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL. A reception for friends and family will follow. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Halifax Hospice in Port Orange for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Halifax Health – Hospice Fund Development, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
