Obituary
Stephen Thomas Flatley , age 41, died suddenly on December 7th, 2021, in Daytona Beach Florida, at his home.
Steve is survived by his parents Jim and Mary Ann Flatley, of Lumberton, New Jersey, his paternal grandmother, Theresa Orth, Uncle Dan and Aunt Donna, Uncle Rick and Jen, Uncle Tom and Aunt Evelyn, Uncle Joe and Aunt Mary, Uncle Rolf and Aunt Diane, Uncle Jonathan and Aunt Christine and 19 cousins of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California and Georgia, his Best Friends Katie Chase of Port Orange, Fla., Jessica Wharry of Long Island, NY, and his beloved dog Georgie.
Steve was born on June 4, 1980 in Camden, NJ, to parents Jim and Mary Ann Flatley. He graduated from Holy Cross High School, Delran, NJ and Burlington County College, Mount Laurel, NJ and was due to receive his Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in January 2022 with a degree in Addiction Counseling. In May 2021 ,he moved to Daytona Beach and accepted a position as a Transportation Lead at Amazon, Deltona, FL, where he worked for more than 5 months.
Steve was a social, active man who was deeply involved in helping those who needed a sponsor, a meal, a place to sleep, or whatever he could give them. He was devoted to his sobriety using the Twelve Steps and the help of others, for the majority of his life. He enjoyed his time cooking and creating new dishes, working out at the gym, driving his vehicle and listening to music, movies, being with his friends, a good laugh, watching his Philadelphia Eagles, and being with friends and family in NJ at holidays and watching his Eagles with his Uncle Joe, his dad and many friends and family. He loved to kid his mom, text with her during Eagles games and go on shopping sprees with her to Walmart. He loved being on the beach at sunrise, bear hugs and helping others. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind and generous gentle man with a quick smile.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 18,2021, from 12:00-2:00 PM , at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 620 Dunlawton, Ave., Port Orange, FL. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Steve’s life. The family would like to thank Kati Chase, our families, and all our friends for helping us and shoring us up during this difficult time.
