Obituary
Stephen Edward Gerencser, 78, of Fort Myers, passed away on December 23, 2021, after a very short battle with brain cancer. Steve served his country in the Army Air Corps and decided to stay in the Army when the Air Force was created. He served in the Army as an airplane mechanic and was proud to have piloted the Beaver, a plane designed to fly in and out of remote and rugged areas allowing the military deliver need supplies to soldiers. After his honorable discharge from the Army Steve continued flying and loved taking his small plane out for the day. He enjoyed taking his RV any where there was a airshow to volunteer including the EAA Experimental aircraft association, in Oshkosh, WI.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Susan J. (nee Korn) Gerencser; his loving children, Stephen Charles Gerencser (Diane) of Sardis, TN, Betty Jo Stambaugh of FT. Myers, FL, and Kathy Smith of Mishawaka, IN; his siblings James Gerencser (Dianne) Fort Wayne, IN, David Gerencser (Sally) of Elkhart, IN, Patricia Childs (James) of Galien, MI, Mary Elizabeth Stofel, Loretto, TN. 6 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. He is now reunited with his parents Steve and Cecile (nee seglowski) Gerencser, his Brother Robert Gerencser, survived by his wife Shirley, South Bend, IN and one great grandchild, baby John who was taken much too early from this world.
Services will be held in Indiana, with due notice of time and place given
