Obituary
Stephen Michael Gurbel passed away September 3, 2021 at his home in Leesburg. Stephen was born July 26, 1947 in Hartford, CT to the late Michael and Edith Gurbel (Holub). He grew up in Salt Point, NY and joined the Navy after high school. He married Bonnie (Devin) and they had two children. After his retirement from the navy Stephen moved to Florida and married his second wife Wilma (Petty), originally from Centralia, IL.
In addition to his wife Willie, Stephen is survived by daughter Kelly and husband Fred Tigler of Junction City IL; son Michael and wife Tricia of Seaford, VA; step-son Daniel Petty and fiancé Erica Thomas of Leesburg, FL; sister Toni and husband Jeffrey Tinkelman of Los Angeles, CA; sister Lorie and husband Paul Hollon of Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law Willa and husband-in-law Roger Ozanowski of Punta Gorda, FL; and grandchildren Dathan Berndt and Kaelyn Tigler of Junction City, IL and Grace and Maggie Gundling of Seaford, VA.
Stephen loved to read and engage in political debates. He was a creative cook and an accomplished accordion player. He enjoyed fishing and just spending time with family.
Stephen chose Simple Cremation. There will be no public visitation or burial. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
