STEPHEN RUSSELL SCHIFFLER

 

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Stephen Russell Schiffler of Port Charlotte, on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital.  He was born July 18, 1952, in Tiffin, Ohio, the son of Norman L and Patricia Ann (Toepper) Schiffler.

            Steve graduated from Northwood High School, Class of 1970.  Following graduation, he worked at Daimler-Chrysler for 31 years and retired to Florida.  He was a Sons of American Legion member of the American Legion Post 113, Rotonda.  In addition, Steve was a member of the Corvette Legends of Southwest Florida, an avid participant in local car shows and the Bob Wagner’s Wooden Bat Classic, Roy Hobbs World Series of baseball and the Arnie Owens League of Fort Myers where he played 2nd base every Sunday on the “Rippers” team.  Steve had two passions in life Baseball and Corvettes. Steve played baseball in one capacity or another since he was a youngster.  He owned his first corvette when he was a senior in high school and affectionately was known as “Stingray Steve”.  He was a helpful and loyal friend and neighbor.  He left his smiles and laughter with whoever he met. 

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sharon (Sobol) Schiffler, his youngest daughter Sabrina (Schiffler) Kroeger.  He will be lovingly remembered by his Significant Other TerriLynn Ratzel, his oldest daughter Amy (Schiffler) Coleman and her husband Billy, three grandchildren, Austin, Wyatt, and Audrey, step-grandson Jake Coleman, sister Becky Brown and a niece Nicole Hunyor, numerous friends, neighbors and relatives, and his faithful dog Pandy.

            A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday Jan 8, 2022, from 3 -5 pm at Englewood’s on Dearborn, 362 W Dearborn St., Englewood, FL  34223. 

            Cremation Services provided by Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society.
