Obituary

Stephen Vardzik
July 7, 1953 – November 20, 2020

On Friday, November 20, 2020, Stephen Vardzik, went on to be with God in Casselberry, Florida at the age of 67. Stephen was born on July 7, 1953 in Stamford, Connecticut to the late Joseph and Virginia (Forlenzo) Vardzik. He grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1971. He studied engineering at Norwalk State Technical College and was a Senior Quality Engineer at Pitney Bowes in Stamford for 28 years. In 2001, Stephen retired and pursued his dream of being a business owner, and would go on to own multiple businesses throughout his life.

In 1974, he married Patricia McAleer Vardzik and had two children, Laura Michelle and Stephen Michael, whom they raised in Trumbull, Connecticut. In 2006, Stephen moved to Durham, North Carolina to start the next chapter of his life and ultimately settled in Orlando, Florida where he spent his remaining years surrounded by friends.

Stephen had a zest for life and a gift for making others laugh. He made friends wherever he went and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed boating, waterskiing, riding his motorcycles, collecting cars, entertaining, exploring new places, and trying new things. He was adventurous, energetic, creative, and skilled in many areas, including photography, carpentry, mechanics, and cooking. He happily and proudly marched to “the beat of his own drum” and was generous to a fault; always giving and doing for others. He was known for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and being the life of the party. Stephen was truly one of a kind and will be remembered for the endless good things he did for the ones he knew and loved.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, and mother, Virginia, of Greenwich, Connecticut. He is survived by Patricia McAleer Vardzik of Plymouth, Massachusetts, his daughter, Laura (Vardzik) Ziegler of Shelton, Connecticut, her husband Braeden, and their son Dylan, his son, Stephen Michael Vardzik, of Hyannis, Massachusetts, his sister, Barbara Mould and her husband Richard of Greenwich, Connecticut, his brother, Joseph Vardzik and his wife Robin of Haw River, North Carolina, several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and countless friends.

A private memorial service will be held.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating in Stephen’s name to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.

My deepest condolences to all of Stephen’s family. I enjoyed visiting with Steve when he came to visit my mom in PA., with his son Buzzer, whom I never knew your real name till now! I also enjoyed our hour long phone conversations, trying to piece together the Vardzik family. Out of all our cousins you reminded me of my dad the most! I’m so thankful that we kept in touch . May you Rest In Peace!
