Obituary

Stephen Wayne Brower, 70, of Summerfield, FL, died April 30, 2022, in hospice care at Brandley House in Summerfield. Steve was born in Queens, New York, the son of Edwin and Norma Russo Brower on June 13, 1951, while his parents were students at the University of Oklahoma. Most of his early childhood was spent in Monticello, NY. In 1967 his family moved to Dallas, TX, which he claimed as his home from then on.

Steve attended the University of St. Thomas, Houston, Texas, and the University of Houston School of Law, graduating with honors from both. He was employed by the federal government for 30 years, retiring to Del Webb Golf and Country Club in 2006. He was a member of the American Contract Bridge League attaining the rank of sapphire life master. He also enjoyed golf, cheering for all Dallas teams, and officiating both basketball and senior softball. His greatest joy in life, however, was his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Donna of 35 years; brothers Skip (Darlene) of Conroe, TX, Tom (Cheryl) of Marble Falls, TX, Mike (Patti) of Murphy, TX; sisters Holly (Dave) Benfield of Seminole, FL and Roxanne (Sherman) White of McKinney, TX; nieces and nephews Ashley (Alex) Fender, Jeffrey (Mary) Brubaker, Charlie, Parker, Collin, Preston, Haley and Grayson Brower, and Mason and Tessa White.

Memorials are planned in Dallas and Summerfield with burial in Central City, Iowa.
