Obituary

Steven Gregory Warden was born in Portland, ME. He died peacefully on 5/13/24 & was 59 yrs old.

Steve proudly served in the US Navy & retired after 20 yrs in San Diego, CA. He then joined the Merchant Mariners for 15 more years. He took a well deserved retirement & moved to Florida in 2018.

Steve was very amusing and always knew how to give you a good laugh. He had the ability to make you smile in any situation. In his free time he collected antiques from thrift stores & auctions. His family & antiques were his two greatest passions.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn & celebrated 34 yrs together on 5/5. They have 3 Children – Nikki, Zach & Abby. He always told them how proud he was right up to his last breath. He was “Papa” to 4 grandchildren. Steve is also survived by two Sisters (Cindy McAdams & Kathy Tapper) & a Brother (Robert Warden), as well as other relatives, nephews and cousins.

We will have a Celebration of Life at The Way Church on 6/2/24 @5pm in Summerfield, FL.  US Navy will render military honors for Steve & his ashes will be placed in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on 6/3/24 @ 11am.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice House of Marion County Florida, Ted & Diane Brandley House. That’s where Steve was being cared for.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com.

Steve was a great shipmate. He taught me a lot. Then in retirement I had the pleasure of seeing him when I could. Steve was a great person.

Steven was the best brother a girl could ask for. He was a great husband, father and papa. He loved his family. I will miss his texting to me. You are not suffering anymore. You will always be my angel. Rest now.

Steve, you were a great shipmate. I would have never made it through my early days with MSC without your help and support. God bless and RIP. Charlie Krebs

Steve was the awesome strength that only a brother can be. We had an amazing relationship. We always were able to talk about anything or just sit in each other’s company silently for hours. His absence will be missed for all my life. His love for me I will always carry and I will always love him. Rest easy brother!!
