Obituary
Steven Arthur Barrett, known affectionately as Steve, passed away on August 16, 2024, at the age of 74 in Daytona Beach, FL.
Born on March 12, 1950, in Pennsylvania, Steve spent his formative years at Mainland High School before dedicating years of service to the U.S. Army. His commitment to his country was followed by a distinguished career with the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired as a postmaster.
Steve lived a full life marked by a unique blend of interests ranging from surfing the Atlantic waves to strumming his many guitars. A fan of ‘Jeopardy,’ he also enjoyed rooting for his favorite baseball teams, fishing, and his keen eye for bargains made him a familiar face in local thrift shops and flea markets. Steve’s sarcastic wit and charisma won him many friends, and his playful yet loving nature endeared him to his family.
Steve leaves behind his beloved wife, Dawn Barrett, her son Christopher (Jen); his children, Sindy Morris (Rob), Mindy Ulbricht (Justin Yancey), Stevi Patrona (Nicholas), and Robert Barrett; grandchildren, Robert Morris, Kaylee Mattson, Mia Ulbricht, Maddelyn Patrona, Nico Patrona; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert Barrett and Leslie Peters. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Robert Barrett, Sr., stepmother Hellon Barrett, and mother, Mildred Bellanger.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no memorial service. Baldwin Brothers of Ormond Beach is assisting the family with arrangements. Steve’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will not be forgotten.
Blessed to have such a wonderful father and grandfather!
