Obituary
Steven Carl Dethloff, 62, of Ponce Inlet, Florida passed away on October 13, 2016 at his home. He was born July 24, 1954 in Fayetteville, New York to the late William Carl Dethloff and Doris (Shoemaker) Dethloff. Steven was a manager for Dunk & Bright Furniture Leasing, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of St Paul’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse New York where he was director of the contemporary christian band “Circle of Friends”. He loved to write and produce music and also played and recorded with several bands including Tradewind and Resonance 7 Jazz. He was most happy when playing guitar and singing with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Gundersen Dethloff. Additional survivors include his son, Jeremy Dethloff of Syracuse, New York; his daughter, Emily Dethloff of Ponce Inlet, Florida; his stepson, Matthew Tirrigan of Charlottesville, Virginia; his brother, Scott Dethloff of Las Vegas, Nevada; his stepbrothers, Kevin Collins of Atlanta, Georgia and Richard Collins of Syracuse, New York; his niece Jennifer Bersani of Syracuse New York and step mother Margaret Dethloff of Lexington, Kentucky.
He is survived by his beautiful grandchildren, Ashton Dethloff, Sophia Glen-Dethloff, and Finn Tirrigan. He was preceded in death by his step sister, Susan Smith.
Steve and Ellen would like to lovingly thank our extended family and friends for their overwhelming support.
Local services will be held at The Church of the Nazarene, Taylor Road, Port Orange, Florida, 32127 on October 22, 2016 at 11:00AM. A luncheon will follow service at the church.
A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Steve’s life is planned in Syracuse , New York in July, 2017 at St Paul’s UMC, 2200 Valley Drive Syracuse , NY 13207. Memorial donations may be made to St Paul’s UMC or The Church of the Nazarene.
