Obituary

Darlene Cantrell was born in Memphis, TN in 1959. She is survived by her fiancée, Michael Dunn, brother, Chris Cantrell, her two daughters, Bonnie and Nicole, her three sons, David, Phillip, and Toni, who live in Ormond Beach, FL, and her 7 grandchildren.

Darlene loved to entertain, was on American Bandstand and worked with MTV for spring break activities. She was outgoing and lit up a room with her presence.  A stranger became a friend, and her compassion led her to help those less fortunate than herself. Affectionately known as “Mama D”, she welcomed her sons’ friends into her social circle and provided motherly advice and acceptance to them. Her fiancée was the love of her life, and she treated him like he was the only man in the world.

She loved to dance, music, movies, concerts, riding rollercoasters at theme parks, and NFL football – Go Titans! Growing up waterskiing, she was a water baby, and the ocean was in her blood.

Sadly, she succumbed to cancer and passed away in August 2022. Entering heaven, her mother Bonnie, Uncle Lynn, Jesus, and other loved ones met her at the gates for a glorious reunion where suffering, death, and pain are no more.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Lourdes, 201 University Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32118.
