Obituary

Susan (Patterson) Norcross, (1/9/1947-3/27/2020), was born and raised in Aldan, PA. outside of Philadelphia. She is survived by her sister, Judith Hutchinson, her son, William P. Norcross of Carrboro, NC., his wife Pamela, and their children Anja and Kai, as well as her daughter, Laurie S. Novosad of McKinney, TX., her husband, Bo, and their children, Maxwell, Thaddeus, Madelyn and Emma.

Known to her friends and family as Suzie, she graduated from Landsdowne-Alden High School in 1964 and went on to Millersville University in Pennsylvania, where she obtained a degree in education in 1968. She then went on for a Masters in Special Education, focusing in Montessori Education. She taught elementary school for many years, finishing the last 11 years of her career (1982-1993) as a kindergarten teacher at the Episcopal Academy, then located in Lower Merion, PA.

Susan married her high school sweetheart, William C. Norcross “Bill”, on July 5, 1969. A date they picked because it was the day after Bill’s birthday, so he wouldn’t forget! They remained together, happily married, until Bill’s death in July of 2011.  Anyone who knew “Bill and Suzie” knew how much they loved each other and loved their family. Suzie loved children, sitting on the beach, boating with Bill and laughing. She LOVED to laugh!  Most every memory that has been shared since Suzie’s passing has mentioned her smile, her easy laugh, her hugs and her gentle way. She lived to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

After retirement, she and Bill gradually transitioned to living full time in Ft. Myers, FL., in Shell Point Community, where she lived until her passing.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, family will be postponing a celebration of her life until gatherings and travel can be done safely.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in Susan’s name to the Episcopal Academy or by emailing pporter@episcopalacademy.org, making a note of Susan’s name.

Instead of flowers, the family would prefer if you would make a donation to
