Obituary
Terry Allen Messner, 83, Passed away peacefully on March 31, 2018. Terry lived in Port Orange for 22 years. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio but raised in Grosse Point Michigan. Terry was a Navy veteran and served onboard the USS Dogfish SS-350 as a communications specialist. He was a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts. This is where he met and married his wife Donna Dale Nolf. They were married for 41 years until she passed away in 2004. Following college, he worked in Radio & Television for several years as an announcer and talk show host until he entered the business world as a National Sales Promotion Manager for Outboard Marine Corporation. This was followed by many years as a General Manager, District Manager, and Regional Manager for various Cable TV Corporations until he retired in 1996. Terry retired from Booth Broadcasting Company and was very instrumental in expanding cable television throughout the greater Daytona Beach area. In his retirement he enjoyed going to the movies, the beach, golfing, gardening and writing and composing songs. He considered himself an inventor, author, composer, lecturer, and entrepreneur. Terry always had a sense of humor and had the ability to make people laugh and was quite the comedian. Everyone who knew him thought he was an unforgettable character. He is survived by his daughter Wendy Messner, son Robert Messner, granddaughter Jessica Gonzalez-Rio, grandson Michael Gonzalez-Rio, great granddaughter Isabella Rodriguez, and brothers Lynn Messner and Bill Messner. A memorial service for Terry Allen Messner will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Port Orange United Church of Christ in Port Orange.
