Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Terry Gill on May 23rd, 2020, at his home with family by his side. He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on September 20, 1940 to Evelyn & Noble Gill. He moved to Fort Myers, Florida with his family at the age of 18 where he met & married his beloved wife of 54 years, Clara (Bill).
Terry proudly serviced in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1959 to 1967. Terry & Bill welcomed three daughters into their lives, Kim (Lennie) Lucas, Donna (Tony) Whitmer and Kellie (Chuck) Young and were blessed for a few short hours with their son Bryan Todd, who waited anxiously in heaven for their arrival.
Terry painted cars then worked in the construction industry until he retired. After that time, he moved with his beloved Bill to Central Florida. Terry taught his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the importance of an honest day’s work and having fun doing it. Terry had an unforgettable grin that would make anyone around laugh with him. And, when the baby he was holding would start to cry, he would start singing, his unforgettable folk songs which will be missed by all. He was known for preparing bacon and eggs for breakfast for the kids & grandkids, fishing, camping and teaching his girls how to care for their horses. He loved animals and most recently lived with his loyal dog Mr. Mack and cat companion Miss Franny, who often held his hand while watching TV.
Besides his daughters, Terry leaves behind eight grandchildren, Tonya (Travis Lyonnaise) Gill, Lorrie (Cody) Rhoden, Dalton Whitmer, Philip (Nicole) Young, Allison Whitmer, Alyssa Whitmer, Dustin Young and Brandi Lucas. He also had the honor of being Papa to his three great-granddaughters Camren, Emma & Holly. He loved his brothers, Jay (Dorothy) Gill, Herb (Bev) Gill and sister-in-law Shirley Gill.
