Terry McMenamin, 63, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away Sunday Nov. 10, peacefully at her home.
She was born in Chicago, IL in 1949 and grew up in Sparta, N.J. before attending Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH. Following several years of schooling there, she became a flight attendant in Miami, FL with Eastern Airlines. After several years with Eastern, she permanently moved to Florida, married, and welcomed three boys into the family. She was a homemaker from 1973 until going back to school and attending Seminole State College in Longwood, FL and attaining her degree in Nursing in 1999. She lived in Longwood, FL with her family for many years, before finally moving to her long-beloved city of New Smyrna Beach in 2000. She enjoyed volunteering with the Southeast Volusia Republican Club, staying active with her Alpha Phi sorority, traveling, working with civic and arts organizations in New Smyrna Beach, volunteering with the Eastern Silverliners organization, entertaining guests at her home, spending time with her friends, dining out, reading, writing and swimming.
Terry is survived by her two children, Kevin "Casey" Hampton of Jacksonville, FL and Bryan Hampton of Orlando, FL, and stepson James McMenamin of Winter Park, FL. Terry has two grandchildren, Molly Rose Hampton and Lucy Jade Hampton, both of Orlando, FL. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Robert Hampton in 2011, her second husband, Scotty McMenamin in 2000, her mother Patricia English in 2004 and father Robert English in 2010.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, December 8, on the beach in New Smyrna Beach in front of Tony and Joe's (with a rain location being the chapel at First Presbyterian Church in New Smyrna Beach at 509 Magnolia Street). The Reverend Beverly Richardson will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Friends of the New Smyrna Beach Library or Jacksonville University in Terry's name.
