Obituary

Rev. Charles J. Warner, 91, of Edgewater, FL, died October 6, 2015 at home with
his family after a long period of declining health.
He was born October 5, 1924, in Middleburgh, NY, to Lawrence and Minnie
(McBain) Warner and was educated in the Middleburgh schools. He served in the
Navy from 1943-1946, including a tour of duty on an aircraft carrier in the South
Pacific.
After discharge, Charles married Rose Buschynski on August 17, 1946 and
completed his college education at Asbury College, followed by a degree from
Asbury Theological Seminary in 1952.
Rev. Warner served charges in the former Troy (NY) Conference of the Methodist
Church in Speculator, Lake Pleasant, and Wells; McKownville (Albany); Pawling
Avenue (Troy); and Hudson Falls, between 1952-1990. After he and Rose retired
to Edgewater, FL, he served part-time as the Minister of Visitation at Coronado
Community United Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach for 14 years.
In addition to his wife of 69 years, Rose, he is survived by daughter Nancy, of
Laurinburg, NC; son Mark, of Moreau, NY; Bonnie Kelley of Laurinburg, NC and
Kelly Warner of Moreau, NY, who were daughters in his heart; sister-in-law Helen
Wardwell, of Edgewater; grandchildren Hannah, Jonathan, Katie, Hayley, Jamie,
Keri, and Anthony; and great-grandchildren Sophia and Tierney. He was
predeceased by daughter Cindy; his parents; and three sisters and two brothers.
Special thanks to VITAS Healthcare/Hospice of New Smyrna Beach, who helped
Charles make his transition to heaven gently and with dignity.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, October 8 at 2:30 pm at
Coronado Community UMC in New Smyrna Beach, with a reception to follow.

    Donna Leadley Milazzo says:
Reverend Warner both baptized and married me in Speculator, NY. He was such a kind, loving, wise man. In 1976 I wanted him to marry us, but we wanted to write our own vows and personalize the ceremony. Rev Warner was so patient and wise in dealing with us, saying let's look at what you want together and decide. He married us. He was so very kind about it all. My sympathy to his family on the loss of a truly fine man. Donna Leadley

Words cannot express how we feel when we received the message of Charlie's passing. How grateful we are for the friendship you and he gave us while we were together at Asbury. And what good times we had. Mary and I often sit and recount those days that we had together.

I was saddened to read of the death of Charles. I came to know him early on in my time of service in Troy Conference as a member of the Board of Evangelism and then later when serving in Eagle Mills and Charles at Pawling Ave. He was a fine colleague and his ministry was fruitful. May you all know the enfolding love of God surrounding your lives as Charles has gone home.

"Charlie" Warner was my collogue and friend for forty years in ministry in the Troy Annual Conference. I respected him as a man of integrity and Christian faith. We shared a heart for evangelism. Well done, good and faithful servant.

    Rev. Ed Hackett, Jr. says:
I praise God for Rev. Charlies Warner! As an evangelical in Troy Conference he knew my struggles to be accepted by a number of my peers who did not agree with my Bibical Christ-centered theology. He was such a model, a friend, and an inspiration to me! Blessings to all of his family and friends who will miss him greatly, but oh the joy to those who went home to the Lord before him and now greet him! Your are in my thoughts and prayers.
    Blessings, Ed
