The Reverend Karl J. Konigsberger, 84, of Edgewater died Monday, May 2, 2011. Karl was born March 18, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh continuing his studies at Hamma Divinity School at Wittenberg University, Springfield, OH where he received his Master of Divinity degree. The Reverend Konigsberger served as Pastor of St. Matthias Lutheran Church, Greensburg, PA, Grace Lutheran Church, Dover, OH, Bethany Lutheran Church, Erie, PA and retired from St. Mark’s By the Sea, Palm Coast, FL. During retirement he was the interim Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church, DeLand, FL and member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Smyrna Beach.
He will be remembered for his divine voice in leading his choirs singing of the Joy of the Lord and encouraging family and friends through the good times and difficult times. Whether through his art or his tunes on the harmonica, Karl’s unselfish, loving, positive and humorous personality lifted all who had the good fortune of having him touch their life. He also was a member of the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs for many years which provided more opportunities for him to give of himself. Karl is survived by his loving wife, Virginia of 62 years; devoted children Karl M. and his wife, Deborah Konigsberger, Kristine and her husband, Mark Gilson, Janine Cameron and Kathryn Konigsberger; four adored grandchildren, Aubrey Konigsberger, Matthew and Michael Gilson and Rebecca Cameron and three cherished great grandchildren, Corey, Cody and Christian Konigsberger.
