Obituary

Theresa Delores Kocol, age 90, of Edgewater, Florida passed away on March 10, 2023.

Theresa is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chris Kelley of Edgewater, Florida; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lori Kocol of Oviedo, Florida; and her son Eugene Kocol Jr of Thailand; her grandchildren Matthew Christian, Kirsten Heideman, Keith Kocol, Kendall Kocol, and Carley Boyd; and her great grandchildren, Blake, Harper, Laurel, and Kamara.  She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Gail Magino, of Leesburg, Florida; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bud Honaker, of Sun City, California; her brother and sister-in-law, Buzz and Leisa Mangino of St Johns, Florida and her sister, Francie Fortunato of Marietta, Georgia.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Christian of Winter Springs, Florida, her sister, Rose Cregan of Leesburg, Florida, and her parents Ralph Mangino and Mary Siedleck.

Theresa was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois where she later met and wed Eugene Kocol Sr in 1950.  They moved from the city to the suburb of Franklin Park where they raised their four children.  Always a devoted mother, she enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family. She worked as a commercial newspaper distributor for the Orlando Sentinel newspaper for over 20 years. In 1996, she retired to the Mid Florida Lakes community in Leesburg, Florida, where her mother and siblings lived.  She was a very active member in the community, and enjoyed playing mahjong, card games, bingo, and bowling.   She participated in and enjoyed dancing at many social events throughout her years in Leesburg.  Advancing age brought her to Brilliance Assisted Living in Edgewater, Florida in 2019.

Theresa will be best remembered for her fun personality and her strong relationships with her friends.  She had a devilish sense of humor and was known for her playful pranks on people.  Theresa’s greatest love was her family, in which she provided support and unconditional love.  Her favorite song quote and life mantra was, “I did it my way”.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor her at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023, at Brilliance Assisted Living in Edgewater, Florida.
