Obituary

ON DECEMBER 5TH, 2023, THE GOOD LORD CALLED HOME A REMARKABLE SOUL, THOMAS ALLEN CLINE, AT THE AGE OF 72. HE DEPARTED PEACEFULLY, SURROUNDED BY THE BEAUTY HE CHERISHED—A DAY ADORNED WITH A GENTLE BREEZE, RADIANT SUNLIGHT, AND SPARKLING WATERS. IT WAS A SCENE REMINISCENT OF THE MOMENTS HE LIVED FOR, MIRRORING THE ESSENCE OF HIS FREE-SPIRITED LIFE. TOM WAS PRECEDED IN PASSING BY HIS FATHER BILL CLINE.

TOM IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE DEBRA CLINE OF 52 YEARS, DAUGHTER CALLIE HONEYSUCKLE (JUSTIN). MOTHER PATRICIA CLINE, BROTHER JAMES CLINE (MELONY), SISTERS JERYL LYNN CLINE AND SUSAN CLINE. NEPHEWS MATT CLINE (SHELBY) COLE CLINE, FLETCHER CLINE & NIECE LILY MAE CLINE. GRANDCHILDREN ELLE & GARNER HONEYSUCKLE.

TOM’S LOVE STORY WITH HIS WIFE, DEBRA, BEGAN IN THEIR YOUTH, DANCING UNDER THE STARS OF AN ILLINOIS SUMMER NIGHT. THEIR ADVENTUROUS JOURNEY, STARTING AT 18 AND 19, UNFOLDED WITH A TRANSITION FROM WILD TIMES TO THE BIRTH OF THEIR ONLY CHILD CALLIE. WHO WILL ALWAYS BE THE GREATEST TESTAMENT TO THEIR ENDURING LOVE.

REFLECTING ON TOM’S JOURNEY, AS AN AVID FISHERMAN, A MUSIC ENTHUSIAST WITH A LAID-BACK MINDSET, TOM APPROACHED LIFE WITH A CAREFREE SPIRIT, OFTEN ADORNED IN BOARD SHORTS & BAREFOOT—A TRUE FREE BIRD. HIS LOVE FOR THE WATER WAS PROFOUND, WHETHER ON HIS BOAT FISHING, COLLECTING SHARK TEETH ON ENDLESS BEACHES, OR SIMPLY BASKING IN THE THERAPEUTIC EMBRACE OF THE SALTWATER.

NATURE WAS HIS SANCTUARY, INSPIRING HIM WITH ITS TREASURES, FROM NATIONAL PARKS TO RIVERS AND RUSTIC RETREATS. A BASKETBALL ENTHUSIAST, HE NOT ONLY PLAYED AND BROKE RECORDS BUT ALSO COACHED AND INSTILLED THE IMPORTANCE OF TEAMWORK IN OTHERS.

TOM DEDICATED OVER TWO DECADES TO THE TRADE SHOW WORLD, WORKING FOR BREDE EXPEDITION AS AN EVENT FOREMAN. HIS TRAVELS CULTIVATED LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS, AND HE LEFT AN INDELIBLE MARK ON THE INDUSTRY HE DEVOTED HIMSELF TO.

A MAN OF FEW FORMALITIES, TOM’S LAID-BACK DEMEANOR & UNIQUE SENSE OF STYLE, OFTEN SHOWCASED WITH JEAN SHORTS & WELL-WORN BALL CAPS, CAPTURED HIS ESSENCE. MARCHING TO THE BEAT OF HIS OWN DRUM, HE EMBRACED INDIVIDUALITY WITH A CAREFREE SPIRIT.

DESPITE FACING HEALTH CHALLENGES IN THE LAST DECADE, TOM’S LOVE FOR HIS FAMILY SHONE BRIGHTLY. HIS UNIQUE WAY OF SHOWING AFFECTION, THROUGH TEASING OR POKING FUN, REVEALED A DEEP BOND WITH EACH FAMILY MEMBER. HIS PRIDE IN THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS AND THE JOY THEY BROUGHT HIM WERE EVIDENT IN EVERY STORY SHARED.

IN THE QUIET AFTERMATH OF HIS PASSING, A SYMBOLIC DANCE OF FISH AROUND THE DOCK BECAME A POIGNANT SIGN—A CELEBRATION OF TOM’S SPIRIT. THOUGH OUR HEARTS ACHE WITH LOSS, WE FIND SOLACE IN KNOWING HE’S PAIN-FREE, REJOICING IN THE COMPANY OF LOVED ONES IN THE GREAT BEYOND.

FAREWELL, TOM CLINE—A FREE BIRD NOW SOARING AMONG THE HEAVENS.

-PEACE
