Thomas R Larrivee, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Pierson, FL on April 3, 2022. He was born in Westbrooke, Maine on July 8, 1936. Tom moved from Westbrooke, Maine to Florida in 1945. Tom Graduated from St. Paul Catholic School in Daytona Beach, Fl., and attended the University of Florida where he was a member of the ROTC. In 1966 he married the love of his life Dolores and took on the role of step father to 4 young children.

Tom was an entrepreneur in life since he was a young boy delivering newspapers for the News Journal. He served as a lineman for a time in the late 50’s -early 60’s when the high voltage line was run through Pierson. He worked for the Post Office for many years as an investigator. During his time with the post office, Tom started a business out of his home repairing CB radios, as he was a ham radio operator with call sign “WA4DKG”. This business outgrew the home and he then opened Tom’s Electronics on 1st Ave in Pierson after buying the Zenith dealership from John A Clark. He expanded the business to include many different products including TV’s, VCR’s, satellite dishes, appliances and movie rentals. He stayed in business for approximately 35 years, including 7 years after a major fire in 1999. He also opened a location in Astor for 2-3 years. He was also owner /operator of 2 other businesses during the same time…The Little Smokehouse(restaurant) and T & D Ventures (buying , selling and leasing aircraft and associated parts). Tom was a pilot for many years and a very avid aviation enthusiast. He served the community in many ways and wore many “jackets”. He was fire chief and ran rescue during the time when Pierson Fire Dept was volunteer. He was a former member of the Pierson Lions Club. He served on the Pierson Town Council at 2 different times from 1982-1985 and then again from 2014 until just before he passed. He also was in charge of the Pierson airport for many years. Tom was a man of many talents, In the 60’s he designed and built the home he shared with his family. His hobbies included flying single and twin engine airplanes and he was IFR rated. He also participated in drag racing where he was class D champion with his car “The Black Widow”. He was a member of the Daytona Beach Custom and Timing Association where he was a Nascar Official. Tom gave so much to his community but his first priority was to his family. He was a true gentleman, honest, trustworthy and dependable. He was an exemplary leader. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was always there to give of himself and provide help, wisdom, support and love, not only as the Patriarch of the family but to all who knew him. We love you and will miss you greatly and you will be forever in our hearts until we meet again in God’s house.

It was an honor working with councilman Larrivee since we both started basically together back in early 2014. His respect and integrity to his legislative position and to the staff was cherished, especially by me. Whenever a person needed to talk to him about the airport, he welcomed them and they would say what a great guy he is. Anytime I had a concern or questioned something, Tom would talk with me and together we would find the answer or solution. Tom's dedication, vision, concern and love for the Town of Pierson exuded from him whenever we spoke and when he spoke to others in my presence and at the council meetings. I will miss his calls... Rest in Peace sir, your madam clerk... QEPD
