Obituary
Thomas Gordon Hitchcock, Sr, age 65 of Ocala, Florida, was called home to be with the Lord and join his wife on January 13, 2025. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his friends, family and dog, Odin.
Tom was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 27, 1959 to Richard and Betty Hitchcock.
He graduated high school from Comsewogue Senior High School in Port Jefferson Station, New York.
He relocated to Ocala, Florida in 1991 where he planted roots and changed the face of his small town forever.
He married the love of his life, Melanie, on January 20, 2001. He was a successful business owner, creating NewRed Hobbies with Melanie, which has been in operation for over 20 years. He was a mentor to those who looked up to him, an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. When he wasn’t at his track, he loved camping in his RV and spending time in St. Augustine with his friends. Tom was larger than life and left a lasting impression on all those fortunate enough to know him.
Tom is survived by his two sons, Thomas G. Hitchcock, Jr and Daniel Hitchcock, brother Richard Hitchcock, nieces Heather Quartararo and Nikki Riegel, grandson Phoenix Stalnacker and countless friends whom he considered family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Betty Hitchcock, his loving sister Cathy Van Cleef and his soul mate, Melanie Hitchcock.
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Thomas Hitchcock will be held on Friday January 31, 2025 at Good Sheperd Memorial Gardens, located at 5052 SW 20th Street, Ocala, Florida 34474, beginning at 2pm. There will be a Celebration of Life at NewRed Hobbies on February 1, 2025 located at 609 NW 4th Ave, Ocala, Florida 34475 from 12pm-4pm
