Obituary
Thomas (Tom) Atwater Voorhees, (64) of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away surrounded by his wife Jessica, and daughters, Kendall and Khori, on May 4, 2020. Tom was born in Traverse City, MI to Jean and Jim Voorhees.
He attended Traverse City Senior High and enlisted in the Navy in the Fall of 1972. Tom was a navigator on a destroyer and participated in the Westpac tour out of San Diego. Tom was discharged from the Navy in 1975 with a National Defense Service Medal.
Tom then attended Northern Michigan University and finished his college studies at the University of Georgia with a focus on Finance and Risk Management. After school he worked at Standard Federal Savings Bank in Washington, DC eventually moving into insurance as a broker. His later career was as a businessman working in South America and Europe.
Tom always loved boats and being on the water, having grown up on the water and spending his childhood boating. He was very athletic and completed the Boston Marathon in 1999 and 2000. Tom was very charming and social with a wonderful smile. And he loved good quality coffee.
Tom is survived by his mother Jean Voorhees and sisters Karen White (Larry) and Tracey Voorhees (Mike) all of Annapolis, MD and his son Corbin Voorhees from a previous marriage, Kent Island, MD. And wife Jessica P. Voorhees and daughters Kendall P. Voorhees and Khori P. Voorhees of Palm Coast, FL.
Committal will be Friday, September 4, 2020 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Locator, Section: 1, Grave Number: 495.
Tom was a great man, excellent husband, amazing father, and a Son of God with a good heart. He will be remembered with a loving smile.
