Obituary
Tony “Nino” Gordon passed away peacefully in his sleep August 14th, 2024. His work friends knew him as Tony, his close friends and family knew him as Nino. He was born October 6th, 1938 in Willimantic, CT to Winnie & Tommy Gordon. He spent most of his childhood and young adulthood in the Florida Keys, graduating from Key West High School. He served in the Air Force overseas in Germany. While there he asked the “love of his life”, Marilyn Foh to come over to Germany and marry him. They were married September 27th, 1963. Upon honorable discharge, returning to the states, he enrolled in a night course in the new field of computer programming. His first job in this field after graduating was at Eastern Airlines but ultimately he used his knowledge for almost 30 years in the financial aid department at the University of Florida.
Being from the Keys, Tony & Marilyn both enjoyed snorkeling, diving and collecting seashells. In their lifetime they put together a collection with over 7,000 specimens. Tony & Marilyn had one child, a daughter, Cathy. He bought her first horse when she was eight and this led to him becoming a 4-H leader and volunteering numerous hours with various horse clubs, shows & rodeos. Tony was an animal lover, he raised horses, cattle, pigs & chickens on his 10 acre farm in Alachua, Fl. He grew a large garden and harvested pecans from the many pecan trees on the farm. In his later years he and Marilyn retired to Tavares, FL. Those who knew him there probably never imagined his farming past. He was a many faceted man. The thing that everyone who knew him, no mater what stage of life, will agree on is that he was a kind, supportive man that they all treasured as a friend. He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn and is survived by his daughter, Cathy Falconer, son-in-law Carl Falconer, grandson Talon Falconer and granddaughter Sierra Falconer. Tony asked that his ashes be spread at sea. Details on a Celebration of Life will be forthcoming,
