Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tracie Thoms, who left this world on January 5, 2025, at the age of 54. Tracie was born on July 26, 1970, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, and she embraced life with a vibrant spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Tracie’s educational journey began at Lincoln Park High School, from which she graduated with pride. Her early years in Michigan were spent surrounded by family and friends, where she developed a love for sparkly, blingy jewelry that reflected her colorful personality.

In her professional life, Tracie dedicated herself to the hospitality industry, working as a waitress at various restaurants, including Beef O’Brady’s in Ocala, Florida, Front Porch in Dunnellon, Florida, and Ram’s Horn in Michigan. She was known for her warmth and infectious smile, making every patron feel welcomed and valued. Her commitment to service and her ability to connect with others exemplified her caring nature.

Tracie was married to Donald Thoms for 25 wonderful years until his passing in July 2024. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership, and together they raised three beautiful children: Briona Thoms, Stacey Wolfenbarger, and James Kochans. Tracie was a devoted mother who instilled in her children the values of kindness, perseverance, and compassion. She was also a proud grandmother to her beloved grandson, Timothy, who brought her immense joy.

She is survived by her children, her grandson, and her siblings: Rich Dutton, John Dutton, and Jennifer Dutton. Tracie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Thoms, and her mother, Charlene Ash. She is also survived by her father, Richard Dutton, who will carry the legacy of her love.

Tracie’s passing was due to metastatic cancer, a battle she faced with courage and grace. Her final weeks were spent in the compassionate care of the Ted and Diane Brandley House in Summerfield, Florida, where she received the love and support she needed during her time of need. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their kindness.

A private funeral service will be held to celebrate Tracie’s life and the memories shared by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral costs.
