Twyla June Shepherd Brown
April 10, 1930 – May 16, 2018
A much-loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt and sister, Twyla June Brown, 88, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at her home.
Born April 10, 1930, in Belle Center, Ohio to Arthur Chester and Florence Daisy (Yazell) Shepherd, she was the tenth of twelve children in the Shepherd family.
She graduated from Belle Center High School in 1948, and beauty school in Columbus, Ohio. She worked for seven years as a beautician, and co-owned and operated several family businesses, including REBCO Wholesale Floral Supply in Leesburg, Florida.
She loved making beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilts and hooked rugs for family and friends. One of her quilts won Best in Show at the Lake County Fair.
She also faithfully served her church family at Haines Creek Baptist by preparing and serving dinners, decorating the sanctuary, and teaching Sunday School.
Twyla is survived by her sister, Jeanne Brown of Gahanna, Ohio; son, Jeffrey Richard Brown and wife, Donna of Leesburg, Florida; daughter, Jamie Lynn (Brown) Cochran and husband, Cliff of Eustis, Florida; son, Kelly Tyler Brown of Knoxville, Tennessee, and son, Daniel Scott Brown of Leesburg, Florida; granddaughter, Abigail Curtis and husband, Chris of Boulder, Colorado; granddaughter, Emily Lynn Wright and husband, Chris of Los Angeles, California; granddaughter, Jennifer Brown of Leesburg, Florida; grandson, Christian James Cochran of Eustis, Florida; granddaughter, Catherine Grace Cochran of Eustis, Florida; grandson, Tanner Brown of Knoxville, Tennessee; and granddaughter, Zoey Brown of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-granddaughters, Acadia and Ari Elle Curtis of Boulder, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by husband of 40 years, Richard Edgar Brown, with whom she had four children; and great-granddaughter Chloe Curtis.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m. at The Warehouse Church in Leesburg, Florida.
