Obituary
Val Albert Hancox, 78, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on May 1, 2018. Val was born on July 14, 1939 in Queens, New York to Charles and Doris Hancox. He was always well-liked and loved by his family and friends. An outgoing and friendly type of person, Val was most well-known for his being a colorful and gifted storyteller. He was the epitome of the All-American, classic “good guy”. Some of Val’s favorite things were baseball, particularly the New York Yankees, and the music of both Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra. To look at photos of Val with the love of his life, Harriet, it’s easy to see how those two were the best of friends and partners through 57 years of marriage, and 60 years spent in each other’s company.
Val is pre-deceased by his parents, Charles Hancox and Doris Hancox (Stanton), and by his daughter, Lisa Primm.
He is survived by his loving wife, Harriet R. Hancox (Stringham); by his daughter Valerie Sevier and her husband, Charles; by his son, Robert Hancox; by his grandchildren, Nichole Fennell, Kristina Cunningham & Erica Fox; and by his great-grandsons, Taylor Bennett, Cameron & Bentley Cunningham.
A Memorial Service will be held for Val on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Baldwin Brothers location in Timber Ridge, located at 11250 SW 93rd Ct. Rd, Ocala, FL 34481. (on 200, near Chili’s and Walmart).
