Vera Arsenijevith, an enterprising hairdresser and beloved matriarch, passed away on April 20, 2023. Born on June 14, 1928, in Belgrade, Serbia, in the midst of a changing world, she embarked on a remarkable journey that brought her to Venezuela and later to the United States, where she built a life filled with love, strength, and entrepreneurial spirit. Her departure leaves a void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
At the tender age of 20, Vera set foot on Venezuelan soil, carrying with her the hopes and dreams of a brighter future. Her dedication and unwavering determination led her to establish several successful hair salons across the country. Through her talented hands and creative vision, she transformed countless individuals, leaving them feeling not only beautiful on the outside but also uplifted within.
But Vera’s true legacy extended far beyond her business ventures. In 1958, she joined hearts and lives with Michael (Misha), her beloved husband, embarking on a remarkable journey together. Their enduring love and devotion to one another were evident throughout their 50 years of marriage, which sadly came to an end with Michael’s passing in 2012. Together, they created a nurturing home, fostering a loving environment for their two sons, Danilo and Marko.
Family was at the center of Vera’s life, and her devotion to her loved ones knew no bounds. As a grandmother (Baba) to Luka and mother-in-law to Lisa, she radiated warmth, compassion, and wisdom. Her family held a special place in her heart, and her unwavering support and guidance inspired them to reach for their dreams and embrace life’s challenges with courage.
Vera’s gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and nurturing nature endeared her to all who crossed her path. She possessed an uncanny ability to make everyone feel cherished and valued, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. Her presence lit up the room, and her genuine interest in others created bonds that would withstand the test of time.
Beyond her remarkable achievements and family legacy, Vera’s kind heart extended into her community. She touched the lives of many through acts of selflessness and generosity. Her dedication to helping others exemplified the true spirit of compassion and empathy, making her a role model for all.
As we bid farewell to Vera, we honor the beautiful life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed by her adoring family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
