Obituary

Victor Schaefer
12/26/1944 – 02/16/2016

Tuesday, February 16, 2016, Victor Schaefer died.  His beloved wife, Patricia, invited him to join her, and he answered in only a fashion that was appropriate to him; two days late for Valentine’s Day.  Remembering holidays was not his forte.

Vic had a life-long love affair with all things food.  The weirder the tastier, and the smellier the more enticing.  He relished to create his own concoctions, but never wrote down the recipe.  A repeated blunder that never failed.

Food Network junkie, history buff, bargain wine collector, unfailing FLA lottery contributor, and an unjustifiable buyer of all sale items; in multiples, “that couldn’t be passed up.”

He had a strong desire to fish, but ached for the moment he actually caught a fish and had to clean it; because that would entail “work.”  He told these quirky, clichéd jokes that made you laugh – after the fact; simply because the senseless jest, conveyed a spark to his face.

Vic was a member of the U.S. Navy, a member of the American Legion Post 270, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4089, and an avid volunteer at the VFW 3282 in Port Orange; where friends grew into family.

Vic spent a blissful, immeasurable forty-five years of marriage to his wife Pat (deceased) and thirty-two years as an unsurpassed protector, wish maker, dream setter, and crème de la crème father, to his surviving daughter, Stacie.

Vic’s vision of life was simple, yet humbling.  He loved his family infinitely, and it was as graceful as that.

Vic’s daughter, Stacie, would like to thank the incredible staff at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach.  CVICU Nurses, 5th floor ICU Nurses, the Intensivists’, and all the Specialists that looked after Vic and especially her throughout the enduring stretch.  The support and wholehearted comfort that the entire team expressed will never be forgotten.

Streamlining the unfussiness of Vic’s wishes, his daughter Stacie will be holding a viewing service at Baldwin Brothers 620 Dunlawton Ave, Port Orange, FL 32127.  The viewing service will be held, Saturday February 27, 2016 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  Succeeding the viewing, there will be a Celebration of Life in honor of both, Victor and Patricia Schaefer at the VFW 3282 5830 South Williamson Blvd., Port Orange, FL 32128.

All friends, family, and those that knew Vic and Pat are invited to attend both and are urged to raise a glass in their honor at the VFW.

In lieu of flowers, Stacie asks that donations be made in Vic’s name to the VFW 3282 in Port Orange, FL.

Victor and Patricia once more; euphoric.

Your Mom and Dad were special stars in my universe. There is a dim spot in my heart with this sad news about your Dad. I wish I could be with you on Saturday to offer my love and sympathy. We are so sorry for your loss.
