Obituary
Vincent J. Garrahy, (91) of Cape Coral, FL and formerly of Narragansett, RI., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on August 1, 2024. Preceded in death by his wife Maureen A. (Kendall) Garrahy (of 54 yrs.) and daughter Eileen (Garrahy) Tait. Survived by 5 of his children Maureen Lott (David), Kathleen Leeming (Hank), Margaret Garrahy (Bobbie), Daniel Garrahy, Michael Garrahy, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John J. and Margaret M. (Neylon) Garrahy, who immigrated from County Clare, Ireland. Preceded in death by his brothers Edward P. Garrahy, J. Joseph Garrahy and sister Mary M. (Garrahy) Penkala.
Graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, received a Business Administration degree from Bryant College, and served in the US Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. He was very active with the VFW Nelson Mack post #4651 and served as Sr. Vice Commander. Extremely hard worker usually maintaining two jobs and strong union member. Worked at Narragansett Brewery until it closed, Kent County Court House and business owner of Anthony’s Tuxedo until he retired.
As much as Vinny loved his Family, his other passions were dancing and playing cards! But ALWAYS FAMILY FIRST.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
So very sorry for your loss. Vinny was a wonderful man and surely will be missed.
