Obituary

Walter A. McClean, Jr., 86, of New Smyrna Beach died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at his home.  Walter was born June 27, 1923 in Baltimore, MD.  He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WW II.  He married Dolores Grochowski June 29, 1946.  They raised their family in Baltimore where he worked for the Baltimore Public Utilities as an accountant for many years.  Walter and his wife were winter resident of New Smyrna Beach for many years before moving here permanently in 2000.  Walter enjoyed fishing, sitting on the beach watching the waves and collecting shells.  He was a member of the Bert Fish Medical Center Auxiliary.  Walter is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dolores; three devoted children, Kathy (Ted) Braecklein of San Antono, FL, Frank (Ann) McClean of Tallahassee, FL, and JoEllen Bash of Elkhorn, NE; five cherished grandchildren, Michael Shane, John, Andrew, Marc and Eric and one adored great grandchild, Allison.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to BFMC Auxiliary, 401 Palmetto Street, New Smyrna Beach, 32168.  5:00 PM at Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169 on November 19, 2009 (map/driving directions) 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169 on November 19, 2009 (map/driving directions)

    We did not know Walter but he and his wife raised a beautiful and compassionate daughter, JoEllen. Walter will live on in her memories and will shine through Jo as she leads the rest of her life on this earth. May God Bless the entire family and grant you all PEACE. Love you Jo.     My thoughts and prayers are will all of you at this difficult time. I knew your Dad from Bert Fish. He was our Wednesday volunteer. He was the highlight of my day every time I saw him. He was truly a wonderful man. We will miss him very much and it won't be the same without Walter.
    He loved you all & your mom very much and spoke of you all often. My deepest sympathy is with your family.
