Walter A. McClean, Jr., 86, of New Smyrna Beach died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at his home. Walter was born June 27, 1923 in Baltimore, MD. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WW II. He married Dolores Grochowski June 29, 1946. They raised their family in Baltimore where he worked for the Baltimore Public Utilities as an accountant for many years. Walter and his wife were winter resident of New Smyrna Beach for many years before moving here permanently in 2000. Walter enjoyed fishing, sitting on the beach watching the waves and collecting shells. He was a member of the Bert Fish Medical Center Auxiliary. Walter is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dolores; three devoted children, Kathy (Ted) Braecklein of San Antono, FL, Frank (Ann) McClean of Tallahassee, FL, and JoEllen Bash of Elkhorn, NE; five cherished grandchildren, Michael Shane, John, Andrew, Marc and Eric and one adored great grandchild, Allison.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to BFMC Auxiliary, 401 Palmetto Street, New Smyrna Beach, 32168.
