Obituary

Walter Andrew Kaufman II (Andy) 73 of Fort Myers, FL, formally of Madison Heights, MI passed away Friday, July 8, 2022.  He was born in Oregon on May 15, 1949, the son of Walter Andrew Kaufman and Leona Hurt (ne) Hand.

Andy served his country proudly in the Army during Vietnam Era and then also served later in the Navy.  First served in the United States Army and then enlisted in the United States Navy.  He married the love of his life Maxine Joanne Kaufman (ne) Hoff.  Together they had one son and one daughter.  Andy attended welding trade school.  He retired from Chrysler Corporation.  After retirement he and his loving wife moved to Florida to escape the snow.  He loved to read books about airplanes and he was an accomplished master builder of pre-WW2 model air planes.  He simply loved to visit the National Museum of the United States Air Force located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.  He will be deeply missed.

Andy is survived by: his daughter Frances Michele Kaufman (Partner Melissa Gauthier), Sister Rebecca Kaufman, Sister-In-Law Julie (Bill) Windhorst, and Brother-In-Law David (Heidi) Hoff.  Grand Children: Tetra, Anakyn, and Hana.  Nephew: Matthew Hoff.

Andy was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maxine Joanne Kaufman on June 24, 2021, his loving Son, Walter Andrew Kaufman Jr on December 2, 2021, and his loving parents: Walter Andrew Kaufman and Leona Hurt.

A Navy Military Funeral is scheduled for Thursday July 28, 2022 at 12:30 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery at 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.  Andy will be interred next to his beloved wife Maxine.
