Walter W. Nunziato “Bill” was born in Hoboken, New Jersey on April 28th, 1949, and he would eventually move to the Jersey Shore where he attended Point Pleasant Beach High School and Ocean County College. Professionally, Bill was a police officer in Wall Township, New Jersey, and then an opportunity opened for him to transfer to a start-up police department in Howell, New Jersey. In Howell he rose through the ranks and became Detective Sergeant.

In April of 1972, Bill met the love of his life and married Sarah E. Snook “Sally”, and together they had two sons, Wm. Gregory and Jeffrey C. The boys were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his five amazing grandchildren, Tyler G., Matthew R., Keeghan A., Braelyn O., and Blayne T., and his brother, Bruce R. Nunziato. Bill was predeceased by his mother, Beatrice A. Nunziato. He loved all of them with a passion.

Bill’s favorite activities were surfing as a teenager, and as he got older, he became an avid golfer, holding a “1” handicap. He also loved music of almost every genre, playing the bass, and during this last year he was teaching himself how to play the keyboard.

Bill was a quiet man that loved his beloved wife and sons, grandchildren, and extended family. He never used the word “in-law”; all of Sally’s brothers and sisters and her parents, they were also his family. Bill is very dearly loved by his family and friends, and he will always be in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Lighthouse Presbyterian Church, 1035 W Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.

Sarah, Greg, Jeff and the Entire Nunziato Family. I was deeply moved to read about the passing of Walt. He and I go way back to 1973 when I was hired by the Howell Township Police . While I was a Patrol Officer I had a number of opportunities to work with Walt on several investigations in which I was to pay close attention to his Knowledge, Thoroughness and Dedication to his duties as A Law Enforcement Officer. His Guidance led me to enjoy a Great Rewarding and Fulfilling Law Enforcement Career.15 months After my graduation from the Police Academy; Det.Sgt. Nunziato offered my an assignment to work in 'His' Detective Division, even though there were a number of more Senior Officers available. I was fortunate enough to work alongside Walt and watch and learn from him for some 2 and 1/2 years. I truly believe that the work ethic that I learned from him enabled me to become a future Commanding Officer of the Detective Division and Retire in 1997 as The Captain of Operations, Second in command of The entire Police Department, Thank You, Det.Sgt. Walter Nunziato. During those years Walter was absolutely Happy being married to 'Sally' and he always had a smile and spoke proudly of his family. We did share a number of Beers together and Walt was a true Friend, Man and Protector of the residents of Howell Township. Rest in Peace " My Brother in Blue "; You and your family will be in my thoughts and Payers. Dennis and Jackie Scott Badge #210..
