Aloha All,
I feel a profound loss today ... I knew it was coming but it still hurts. The passing of my friend Walter "Wally" Rembert. He was lost to cancer.
He had moved from Hawaii to Ocala Florida after the passing of his dad to be closer to his mom and brother Bernard.
Walt was under care in Gainsville at the Veteran's hospital and University of Florida Shands hospital..... great care, but not where he wanted to be. His goal was to go home; he made it :>) His Daughter Laverne flew up from Hawaii and cared for him until his passing. Classmate Robert Carlos and Laverne both called with the sad news.
Wally, Robert and I did a lot of running together from drinking and carousing to camping, diving and fishing, good memories.
After moving to Florida Walt became more retrospective and found peace in enjoying his favorite pastime, fishing. He would take his boat to the lake all the time and spend hours there. His other love were his cars.
Laverne will be making arrangements to also have a 2nd funeral for Wally in Hawaii and scatter his ashes in Kaneohe Bay .... he will be home. When she gives me the information I will pass it along.
