Obituary

William (Bill) B. Rowe Jr., 74, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on November 22, 2025, in Orlando. He was born on May 22, 1951, in Geneva, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) Rowe, Sr. and Joan M. Rowe.

Bill grew up in Illinois and attended Glenbard West High School. After completing his education, he embarked on a long and dedicated career with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad and later with the Union Pacific Railroad.  His work reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to keeping America moving.  Bill lived a life marked by curiosity, adventure, and a deep appreciation for the world around him.

A man of many interests, Bill had a passion for traveling that took him far beyond his Midwestern roots. He spent several years living in Costa Rica, where he immersed himself in the culture and became proficient in Spanish—a testament to his lifelong love of learning. Whether exploring new places or reading about them from home, Bill was always eager to expand his horizons.

He found joy in the open road on his motorcycle and peace by the water with a fishing rod in hand. Reading was another constant companion throughout his life, feeding his ever-curious mind.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his partner Kathryn Amacher; his brother Donald (Jennifer) Rowe; two sisters Sandy (Ronald) Smith and Mary (David) Kroger, his daughter Shannon Neal; and (2) grandchildren Brian Holst and Brianna Holst.

His memory will live on through those who knew him and shared in the many chapters of his journey. May his legacy of exploration and learning continue to inspire all who remember him.
