Obituary
William Grover Newsom Jr. April 14, 1931 to March 21, 2021
“LARGER THAN LIFE”
Anyone who knew Bill (Grover) would agree with this description. Among so many wonderful characteristics, he was inquisitive, courageous, loyal, brilliant, generous, forgiving and fun. He was an honorable man of integrity who loved God, his family, and his extended family with all his heart.
Bill (Grover) and his wife, Jean, were married for over 70 years and had four children. From their love grew a large, loving family including many wonderful spouses, 3 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was a dedicated, selfless caregiver for his wife, Jean over the past few years and his final wish was to see her “home” safely before he died. He got his wish…she went home to Heaven on March 6th and Bill (Grover) followed her just 15 short days later.
Everyone who knew him will miss him deeply, yet he filled our lives with so many wonderful memories of great moments together, thoughtful conversations, and the best comfort food ever. (His pecan pies will never be equaled!)
Bill (Grover) wouldn’t want anyone to cry over him because he loved life and lived it to his fullest. He’s healthy now and worry-free and would only want all of us to follow his example. His legacy will continue for many generations and we were honored to know and love this great, great man.
There will be no memorial service and we ask each of you to remember Bill (Grover), Daddy, Grandaddy (Greatdaddy), Grover Jr., and Uncle Bill (Uncle Grover) in whatever way brings you the most joy…that’s what he would want.
