Obituary

William J. Clayton of Cape Coral, Fl, passed away peacefully at Hope Hospice, on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. He was 74 years old. William was born on November 18, 1946, in Sea Grit Township, NJ, to the late William P. Clayton and Lena Pearle Clayton McCullough.

William was a member of AmVets, Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion. He was an excellent baseball player in his younger years, and more recently an avid golfer.

He was known to his family as “Uncle Butch” and to his wonderful friends in Florida, “Hair Bill.”

Bill was proud to have worked at the original Jersey Mikes Subs shop in New Jersey when he was younger. He had always talked about owning his own sub shop one day, but never had the opportunity to do so.

His connection with his “niece” Courtney was very special to him, they enjoyed talking on the phone and eating steak dinners when he visited PA. He loved his family and friends with his whole heart! He loved women and dancing and of course had fabulous hair! Whenever a song he loved would come on at the Eagles he would grab someone special by the hand and take them to the dance floor. He was a great dancer!

He is survived by his cousins: Karen Townsend of Dayton, PA, Lisa Kocent of Pittsburgh, PA, and children, Brandon (Sarah) and Alex, Scott Bussard (Rhonda) of Mount Joy, PA, and children, Aaron, Brittany, Ron and Courtney, Brian Bussard (Sherri) of Rural Valley, PA, and children, Trevor (Kayla), Meghan (Zachary) and Austin, Sheila Wadding (Jeff) of Dayton, PA, and son, Logan;  sister: Barbara Mangold of New Jersey, and children, Christian, Patrick, Wendy and Maureen, and William’s best friend who was like a brother to him, Jesse Cadena (Dana).

William will be dearly missed by all those who were lucky enough to cross paths with him.
