Obituary

William “Bill” J. Davidson, Jr, 83, went to meet his Lord and Savior on May 30, 2022, in Ocala, Florida.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel (Stroupe) of Summerfield, Fl; brother Edward Davidson of Marathon, Fl; children Randall Davidson of Leesburg, FL, Sandra (Michael) Giamatt of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Richard (Maria) Davidson of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Lisa (Jeffrey) Barbiaux of Summerfield, FL; grandchildren Katelyn (Paul) Caudle, Mason Davidson, Daisy (Andre) Johnson, April Davidson, Reece Davidson, Christopher Giamatt; great grandchildren Liam, Liliana & Will.  He is preceded in death by his parents William & Elizabeth (Kinney) Davidson.

Bill was born on January 22, 1939, in Buffalo, NY, to William and Anna (McGee) Davidson.  He graduated from Odessa High School, attended Buffalo State College, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for 20 years, retiring as Senior Chief Petty Officer.  He married Hazel Stroupe in 1960 and the couple had 4 children together.  He was a great family man and a loving father. He enjoyed family time and was active in many local churches throughout the years.  His family and friends will remember him as a cheerful, upbeat man of faith.

A Celebration of Life for Bill is scheduled on Saturday, June 18th, 11:00 a.m., at New Life Baptist Church, 10035 Poe St, Leesburg, FL 34788.  A reception will follow.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.  The family would like to thank Hospice of Marion County.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Marion County or Alzheimer’s Association.
