Obituary

William “Bill” Decot, age 75 passed suddenly on October 2, 2021 at Shands Hospital in Gainsville, FL.
Bill is survived by his wife Carol of the Villages, FL ; his daughter Bobbi Matthews of Jacksonville, FL ; and his son, Brian Decot of Hudson, FL. Along with his granddaughters, Megan Matthews, Scarlett Decot and London Decot. His brother Dennis Decot of West Valley, NY and sister Debbie Pawlicki of The Villages, FL.
Bill was born on December 31, 1945 in Buffalo, NY, to parents Valentine Decot and Joan Gibney Decot. He graduated from Amherst High School in Amherst, NY. In 1978, he moved to Florida and accepted a position as a field manager with Snap-On Tools Corp. for 25 years. He then was self – employed until retirement.
Bill was a great family man and loving father. He married Carol (Hughes) in 1967 and the couple had 2 children together.
Bill was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the American Legion, Vietnam Vets, Nascar and classic cars for the majority of his life. He enjoyed golfing and boating. His family and friends will always remember him as a friendly, outgoing and helpful guy.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday on November 6, at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul church, 5323 E County Road 462, Wildwood, FL 34785. A reception will follow at Dignity Memorial Life Celebration Center 7134 Powell Road, Wildwood, FL 34748. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support.
