Obituary
William Francis Ellis, 90, of New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Mr. Ellis was born in Palatka, Florida, and lived his entire life in New Smyrna Beach. He was a graduate of the Class of 1944, Live Oak High School. He was a U. S. Marine Corps Veteran of World War II, having served in Guam. He married his sweetheart, Mary Ruth, and they were married 66 years. He was an Engineer for the FEC Railroad until 1963, and worked for Sargent’s Quality Pools, laying tile in commercial swimming pools, until his retirement. After retirement, he laid tile until he was in his 80’s, for family and friends. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 149, New Smyrna Beach, and a past member of the First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach, where he was a deacon. He was a current member of Edgewater Alliance Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ruth, his parents, James Robert Ellis, Sr., and Ellen Frances Ellis, his sister, Mary Kathleen Delk Davies, and his brother, James Robert Ellis, Jr. He is survived by this three daughters, Linda Kammann (Mike) of Jacksonville, Sandy Meares (David), of New Smyrna Beach, and Lisa Solms (Chip) of Edgewater, six grandchildren, Michelle Keathley, Jeremy Meares (Leslie), Trey Solms (Paige), Jenna Raymond (Chris), Miranda Hoffman (Ian), and Marissa McCardel (Tim), nine great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Life celebration will be Saturday, January 28, at 11:00 AM, at Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place. The family will receive friends from 10 to service time. Committal with military honors will be at Edgewater- New Smyrna Cemetery. Memorial donations are requested to Hospice Vitas.
Served faithfully in the work of First Baptist Church of New Smyrnan Beach. Both lived lives of love and sharing their love for Jesus Christ. They were true and faithful servants to all. A blessing knowing both.
