Obituary

Bill passed away peacefully with his Wild Irish Rose, Anne Eileen, by his side. They were looking forward to their 73rd wedding anniversary on October 16, 2021. Bill enlisted in the US Navy and served onboard ship in the Pacific Theater in WWII.
Honorably discharged after the war he remained a proud Navy man the rest of his life. Returning home he met and married Anne Eileen Murphy. He spent his professional career at GM where he worked his way up from tool maker to Senior Process
Engineer. Bill and Anne Eileen resided in Detroit, Livonia, Westland, and Fenton, Michigan where they raised their ten children before retiring to Port Orange Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Helen Kirkland as well as his brothers Kenneth and John Kirkland. He is survived by  sister Audrey Baker. He leaves behind his wife Anne Eileen and his children Robert ( Carol ), Susan ( Charles ) Russell, David ( Vicki ), Cynthia ( Gary) Mooneyham, John ( Sherry ), Edward, Kenneth, Andrew, ( Wendy ), Jerome, Peggy Matta, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great- grandchildren. Bill lived a long and full life as an adoring husband, loving father, a generous provider, and a proud veteran. He loved and was loved.

There will be a private family memorial service followed by internment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield Michigan. Those wishing to honor Bill’s memory might consider a donation to Family Renew Community at www.familyrenew.org
