William Lawrence Cahill, Jr. better known as Bill or Barnacle Bill peacefully passed on March 9, 2021. He was the first of five born to Elizabeth and William Cahill of Midtown Manhattan on November 6, 1938. They moved to Astoria, Queens in 1940 and then relocated in 1953 to Huntington, Long Island. He was a drummer in the
Marching Band at Simpson, High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955. He served aboard air craft carriers, USS Forrestal, USS Intrepid and USS Independence to

Bill dedicated 40 years to Brookhaven National Laboratory as an Electrical Engineer and retired in 2000. Bill & Lillian retired to Oak Run in Ocala, Florida in 2004. Bill was an avid drummer since the age of 14. He played countless gigs all thru Long Island and Marion County, Florida. He especially enjoyed playing with Ocala Jazz to raise funds for Marion County Hospice. Among other hobbies he loved playing golf. He was very proud of his Hole in One. To the Cahill Family,

May your many good memories help you through your difficult times. As a fellow BNLer, I had the pleasure of golfing with Bill, and I will always remember our times sneaking on Middle Island at dawn to play nine holes before work and like two kids our last time when we got caught! We laughed like children! I will cherish our friendship and only be glad he is no longer suffering. RIP Bill
