Obituary
William Lee Hamilton (Bill) was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on August 20, 1946. He passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the age of 76 at his daughter’s home in Cape Coral Florida.
After graduating high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart. Returning to the states, he was stationed on Lake Michigan in Chicago, IL on a destroyer escort, where he met his wife, Sharon at the USO. They were married on April 11, 1970 in Chicago, IL and moved to Naperville, IL where they raised their family.
After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, Bill worked as an Air Traffic Controller for 10 years at the Aurora Center. Later, he worked as a Construction Superintendent in the Chicago area.
He enjoyed playing golf and was a sports enthusiast, especially football (OH – IO). His greatest joy was supporting & attending his children’s & grandchildren’s activities, coaching and volunteering and being involved in their lives.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon of 53 years in Cape Coral, FL; his two daughters, Kimberly (Dave) Swanson of Cape Coral, FL and Lisa (John) Sever of Minneapolis, Minnesota and his son, Brad William Hamilton (Paul) of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by two sisters, Sue Cook and Lea Adkins and one brother, Byron, and numerous nieces & nephews. He was dearly loved by his five grandchildren: Victoria, Brooke and Sam Wolfe and Olivia & Landon Sever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hudson Hamilton and Lois Mae Rudy; and his older sister Pat Walker.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 11, 2023 at Tara Woods In North Fort Myers, FL from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
